The Recap

How it went

Crested Butte in late summer is hard to beat, and the trail network delivered exactly what we came for. Over three days we covered 58 miles and climbed more than 6,000 feet — up through wildflower meadows, along ridgelines with the Elk Mountains stacked up in every direction, and down some of the most celebrated singletrack in Colorado.

Mornings for medicine, afternoons for the mountain.

The group came from a range of specialties and a range of fitness levels, and it worked. Local guides kept the pace honest and the lines clean. What people took home was the conversation — the kind that only happens after everyone has suffered a little together.

Where we rode

Riders strung out along singletrack crossing an open meadow below the Elk Mountains
Day 1

Snodgrass → Lupine → Lower Loops

The warm-up. Rolling singletrack with big views back toward town, linked into a long day that shook out travel legs and sorted out who we were riding with.

Day 2

403 → 401

The one everybody comes for. A long grind up 403 pays off with the 401 traverse — waist-high wildflowers, the whole Elk Range in view, and a descent nobody stopped talking about.

Day 3

Brush Creek

A long, fast descent to finish the week — plus a creek crossing that nobody got through entirely dry. The trail earns its name.
